Bishop's Palace (Vladičanski dvor)

Vladičanski dvor was rebuilt between 1899 and 1901 to a design by Vladimir Nikolić, replacing an earlier palace destroyed in 1849. Nikolić leaned into a Serbo-Byzantine style that was consciously nationalistic — red brick, arched windows, a hint of a Balkan Ottoman past — and the result stops you at the end of Zmaj Jovina like a full stop.

In front of the palace stands the monument to Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, the poet the street is named after, added in 1984.

The palace still functions as the residence of the Bishop of Bačka. It's not open to the public inside, but the exterior and the little square in front are one of the best photo spots in the city.
