Novi Sad City Hall

The current Gradska kuća replaced a smaller magistrat destroyed in the 1849 bombardment. Architect György Molnár — the same man behind the cathedral across the square — designed it in a confident neo-Renaissance style, taking clear inspiration from the Rathaus in Graz.

Above the main entrance sit personifications of Justice, Faith and Industry. The clock tower holds a bell nicknamed Matilda, cast in Timișoara in 1895; you'll hear her ring the hour across the square.

Today it still functions as the seat of the City Assembly. On weekdays the courtyard is open — step inside for a glimpse of the frescoes on the grand staircase.
