Danube Park (Dunavski park)

Dunavski park opened in 1895 on land the Danube used to flood every spring. When the city finally built the embankment, the reclaimed strip was landscaped as a public park — one of the earliest in southern Hungary at the time.

The park is home to Novi Sad's poets in bronze: Miroslav Antić on a bench near the lake, Đura Jakšić by the entrance, and Branko Radičević further in. On weekends you'll see chess boards, dog walkers and the odd wedding photoshoot at the little iron bridge over the pond.

Directly next to the park is the Museum of Vojvodina, and behind that the Zavičajna zbirka (regional collection). The park is also the greenest gateway from Dunavska to the fortress.
