About the tour
Why walk Novi Sad this way
Cross the Danube on foot and climb the star-shaped Habsburg fortress that stared down every empire in the neighbourhood for three centuries. The route starts on the Novi Sad side at the SNP theatre, drops down onto the Varadin Bridge for the classic postcard view, then winds up through the lower town of Petrovaradin to the clock tower terrace. Expect some easy uphill on cobbles and 60–90 minutes at the top for photos, coffee or the City Museum.

Serbian National Theatre (SNP)
We start at the theatre so the walk to the Varadin Bridge is downhill. The plaza in front is a good coffee stop before we cross.

What walkers say
3 ratings
"The clock terrace at sunset is one of the best views I've had in Serbia. Do this one late afternoon, no earlier."
"Great context on the fortress history. The climb is easy, don't be scared off by the 3 hours — most of it is spent on top."
"Cross the Danube on foot — sounds boring, but the bridge itself is the highlight. Went back over at night on the way home."
